About us

Hi, we are Martine & Wim, a young at heart couple born and raised in Antwerp, Belgium, who enjoy sharing good times with friends and travellers. We have an international mindset and a specific preference for "la vie en rose", so even on grey days we have no complaints!

While passing through France a few years ago, we spontaneously drove through the Burgundy region, where we were immediately charmed by the bright yellow fields of rapeseed and sunflowers, rolling landscapes, and wooded ridges. We unwound and enjoyed everything and nothing in particular. A seed was planted, and when the opportunity came to “try something different,” we didn't hesitate. We searched for a cottage, found one, and renovated it ourselves.

We learned to appreciate the charms of the French countryside, where simplicity is key!

Information

We don’t have any shops in the village, but just 5 km away in Brinon-sur-Beuvron, you’ll find a bakery, a small grocery store and deli, a post office, a bar-tabac, a pharmacy, a gas station, and an ATM. Every Sunday, there’s a modest market offering fruit and vegetables, meat products, and an organic dairy stall with fresh bread, eggs, yogurt and goatcheese straight from the farm!

It’s a good idea to stock up on supplies along the way, as the nearest supermarkets (and gas stations) are 10 to 25 km away:

 Prémery (15 km): GB Carrefour

 Varzy (10 km): Bi1

 Tannay (20 km): Super U

Corbigny (25 km): Aldi and a large Bi1

On Saturday mornings, you can visit the covered market in Clamecy (25 km), which offers a wide variety of foods and regional specialties. It’s a delightful outing, and we’ll be happy to lend you a wicker basket for all your shopping!

Rules

Welcome to our authentic cottage in the French countryside. We kindly ask you to read the following house rules carefully to ensure a pleasant and respectful stay:

  • Waste sorting: please respect the selective waste sorting system by using the designated bins. In France, waste is collected separately.
  • Kitchen cleanliness: avoid leaving food scraps in the kitchen to prevent attracting pests.
  • Eco-friendly wastewater system: our hamlet is not connected to the main sewage system. Instead, we use an ecological filtration system with reeds and aquatic plants to purify the water naturally. To preserve this system, please use only biodegradable products. We provide shower gel, shampoo, soap, and dishwashing liquid. Chemical products can harm the effectiveness of the water purification!
  • Indoor shoes: bring your own slippers or indoor shoes and avoid wearing outdoor shoes on the first floor (bedroom).
  • Quietness: no parties or events that could disturb the peace. Please respect the tranquility of the hamlet.
  • Pets: unfortunately, pets are not allowed to accommodate guests who may have allergies.
  • Smoking: there’s no need to smoke indoors; you’re welcome to do so in the open air.

Thank you for respecting these guidelines and helping us maintain this unique place.

We wish you a carefree and unforgettable stay!
